Sprint, 5 Minutes Delay And A Public Apology; Japan’s Minister Video Goes Viral
In a world where punctuality is a punchline for some and a principle for others, imagine if our desi netas swapped their siren-blaring convoys for a slice of Japanese humility. Picture this: Instead of turning roads into personal parking lots and showing up fashionably late (or not at all), they could try the radical act of saying “sorry” for a mere five-minute delay. Shocking, right? But, if a Japanese minister can bow in remorse over traffic woes they didn’t cause, surely our leaders can muster an apology for the chaos they create. After all, accountability isn’t a foreign concept, it’s just one VVIP pass away from reality.
So why are we talking about lessons on punctuality and political accountability ? Well, social media has captivated eyes on one such incident in Japan which went viral prompting users to take lessons from it. Lets know what the viral video is about-

The Cabinet session, commencing around 8:20 a.m., proceeded without Onoda initially, leaving her designated chair vacant in the press footage released prior to the gathering. Moments after the meeting kicked off, Onoda pulled up to the Kantei, the Prime Minister’s official residence and, forgoing formal decorum, hurried up the stairs alongside her entourage. Security cameras captured her swift navigation through the hallways, a sequence that swiftly trended online under the moniker “Kantei Dash’ which means rushing to PM’s Office.
Addressing the episode at a subsequent press briefing, Onoda expressed regret to both the public and her colleagues. She attributed the holdup to a highway mishap that halted traffic entirely, preventing any forward movement. “I sincerely apologize for this delay,” she stated. “I will manage crises more strictly.” In a separate remark, she pledged to enhance her crisis management skills.
Lesson From Viral Video
The footage has reignited discussions on Japan’s cultural reverence for punctuality, with online observers praising the minister’s exertion. One user noted: “The effort made for just 5 minutes is a sign of respect for work and society.” This episode underscores how, in one of the world’s most clockwork nations, even minor deviations prompt extraordinary measures to uphold collective standards.
However, earlier in 2019 Japan’s Olympics Minister, Yoshitaka Sakurada, too publicly apologised after arriving three minutes late to a parliamentary meeting.
