Punjab Man Shot Dead In New York While Delivering Pizza, Family Seeks Help To Bring Him Home

Kapurthala: A young man from Punjab’s Kapurthala district was shot dead in New York while delivering pizza, leaving his family in Jabbowal village seeking help to bring his mortal remains back to India.

The deceased has been identified as Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Jabbowal village in the Bholath area of Kapurthala. According to reports, Gurdeep was working as a pizza delivery driver in New York when he was shot on August 22.

Gurdeep had moved to the United States several years ago in search of better opportunities. His father, Pyare Lal, said the family had taken on a financial burden to send him abroad. Gurdeep had faced difficulties during his initial years in the US but continued working to support his family.

According to the family, Gurdeep had previously worked at a store before taking up pizza delivery. On August 22, he went out to deliver a pizza in New York. Reports say he was shot after reaching the delivery location.

Some reports have said the shooting may have been linked to an attempted robbery. However, the motive has not been officially established, and details of what exactly led to the shooting remain under investigation.

Reports have identified the shooting location as Richmond Street in New York City. The identity of the person or persons responsible has not been confirmed in the reports available so far.

Gurdeep’s death has left his family facing not only the loss of a son but also the difficult process of bringing him home. His relatives have appealed to the Punjab and Central governments for assistance in repatriating his mortal remains to India.

The family has also urged the authorities to coordinate with US officials and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice. Gurdeep was unmarried, according to reports. His father and brother are involved in the family’s DJ business in Punjab.

For the family in Jabbowal, Gurdeep had gone abroad with hopes of building a better future. Instead, his life ended while he was doing the work he had taken up to support himself and his family.

The family is now waiting for answers about his death and seeking help to bring their son back to Punjab.
