‘We Returned From the Temple in the Morning and Watched Saransh Being Presented His Test Cap!’ Says Saransh Jain’s Wife

Indore: Every member of 33-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Saransh Jain’s family is overjoyed after he finally made his international debut for India. Originally from Madhya Pradesh, Saransh has not yet had an opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He began his first-class career in 2014, 12 years ago, and got married in 2022. Now, at the age of 33, he has finally earned the opportunity to represent India in international cricket. His wife, Harshita, told PTI in an interview on Sunday, “We were certain that Saransh would get the opportunity to play for India. We went to the temple early in the morning, and when we returned after seeking God’s blessings, we saw on television that Saransh was being presented with his Test cap.”
Before the toss for India’s second and final Test against Sri Lanka, which began at 10 a.m., Saransh was presented with his Test cap by spin legend and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He became India’s 320th Test player. Saransh was included in the Indian team in place of Kuldeep Yadav. On Sunday, he remained unbeaten on four runs, having hit a boundary with the very first ball of his Test career.
Saransh’s family distributed sweets to celebrate the occasion. His wife Harshita told PTI, “We are all extremely happy. We always hoped that one day Saransh would get the opportunity to become a Test cricketer. We went to the temple in the morning, and when we returned and saw Saransh receiving his Test cap, we were extremely delighted and also became emotional. Cricket is Saransh’s life.”
Father Has Recovered Somewhat After Battling Cancer
Saransh has been coached since childhood by his former cricketer father, Subodh Jain. Subodh, who has recently recovered somewhat after battling cancer, is delighted to see his son begin his international career. He told PTI, “My greatest happiness is that Saransh got the opportunity to make his debut for India.”
Brother and Grandmother Also Express Their Happiness
Saransh’s mother, Sangeeta Jain, has also played a major role in his cricketing journey. His brother, Saurabh Jain, told PTI, “We cannot put into words how happy we all are. My brother’s years of hard work have finally paid off.”
Saransh’s grandmother, Chameli Devi, said, “Saransh has made all of us proud and brought great honour to the entire family. I hope he continues to progress and achieves success. I am extremely happy today.”
