Over 50 Detonators, Live Cartridges Found Near RSS Headquarters, Nagpur Placed On High Alert
Mahal: Nagpur was thrown into a state of high alert on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, after police recovered a significant cache of explosives from a residential house located just two kilometres from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters.
According to police officials, the suspicious materials were discovered at a residence belonging to the Lanjewar family near Dosar Bhavan Chowk on CA Road. Family members noticed the items in their garden and promptly alerted authorities between 9:30 am and 9:45 am.
The recovered items included around 15 gelatin sticks, 58 detonators, several connectors, and 15 live cartridges. Local police along with the bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area, and launched a thorough search to ensure no additional explosive devices were present. Forensic experts were also called in to examine the materials.

Officials stated that the explosives appear to have been stored at the location for nearly one-and-a-half months. The materials were safely removed and shifted to an undisclosed secure site for detailed analysis and further investigation.
The proximity of the discovery to the highly sensitive RSS headquarters has raised serious concerns, prompting increased vigilance and tightened security across key areas in the city. Additional Commissioner of Police Naveenchandra Reddy visited the site and briefed the media on the developing situation, as reported by The Times of India.
Police have initiated a detailed probe to determine how the explosives reached the location and whether they were part of a larger conspiracy. No arrests have been made so far.
This incident comes amid broader national security concerns following a recent grenade attack outside a BJP office in Chandigarh, which had already led to stepped-up surveillance at politically sensitive sites.
Authorities have confirmed that the situation in Nagpur is now under control, though security measures remain heightened while investigations continue.
