Reykjavik (Iceland): Following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) recent decision to sack seven players, including Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq, from Pakistan’s Test squad currently playing a series in England, along with the head coach and bowling coach, Iceland Cricket has taken a swipe at PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who has been widely criticised in the cricketing world for his confrontational stance against India over the past six months.

Iceland is still a newcomer to the game of cricket, but the fact that even such smaller cricketing nations have started mocking Pakistan over what the PCB has done is certainly embarrassing for Pakistan.

Iceland Cricket, the country’s cricket governing body, has used a fictional cricket challenge to take a sarcastic dig at the PCB’s shocking and controversial selection-related decisions, while also poking fun at Naqvi and his administration.

Known for its satirical and sarcastic posts on X, the Iceland Cricket account wrote: “We have devised a new cricket challenge for cricketers who live around the sea. Remove an iceberg and win a free educational trip to meet Mohsin Naqvi. On this trip, you will learn how team selection strategies should work. If you wish, this trip can also be made one-way… People always say our posts are enough to leave even the toughest people feeling cold. Today, icebergs have been spotted off our north-western coastline.”

Pakistan have already lost the first two Tests in England, giving the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.The third and final Test will be played in Birmingham from Wednesday, September 9.
