Western Railway will implement a new timetable for Mumbai suburban local trains starting September 1, 2026. The revision seeks to optimise services, enhance passenger experience and better match travel demand. The overall number of suburban services remains unchanged at 1,414.
Under the updated schedule, six new services will be introduced two in the Up direction and four in the Down direction. These include a Bhayandar–Virar local departing Bhayandar at 7:46 am and arriving Virar at 8:12 am, a Borivali–Bhayandar service leaving at 10:14 pm and reaching at 10:30 pm, a Borivali–Virar train departing at 10:51 pm and arriving at 11:33 pm, and another Borivali–Bhayandar service starting at 12:28 am and arriving at 12:46 am. Additional new runs cover a Bandra–Churchgate service departing at 11:58 am and arriving at 12:30 pm, along with a late-night Virar–Borivali train leaving Virar at 11:51 pm and reaching Borivali at 12:26 am.
At the same time, six existing services will be withdrawn. These comprise two air-conditioned Fast trains and four others operating between Churchgate, Borivali and related sectors. The cancelled trains are identified as BO94137, BCL90359, BO90483, BCL90911, BO94138 and BO90540.
The number of air-conditioned suburban services will rise from 145 to 147. The two newly added AC trains are a Churchgate–Borivali service (BO94105) departing at 5:28 pm and a Borivali–Churchgate service (BO94110) leaving at 6:24 pm.
Several existing services will undergo route or timing adjustments based on passenger needs. The Dadar–Virar service 90677 and Virar–Dadar service 93033 will be merged into a single run departing Dadar at 5:22 pm. The Virar–Dadar service VR92046, currently leaving Virar at 8:23 am, will be extended to Churchgate, as will another Dadar–Virar service (VR92069).
Certain trains will also alter their stops. The air-conditioned VR94113, departing Churchgate at 6:22 pm and arriving Virar at 7:46 pm, will skip Borivali. Similarly, VR90791, leaving Churchgate at 7:05 pm and reaching Virar at 8:27 pm, will bypass Borivali. An air-conditioned Slow service from Churchgate to Borivali (BO94029) will now extend to Goregaon before returning.
Commuters are advised to consult the revised timetable in advance of travel to plan their journeys accordingly.
