‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ Creates Box Office Bhaukaal! Pankaj Tripathi’s Film Opens Among 2026 Biggest Hindi Hits

‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has wasted no time making its presence felt at the box office. The Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Ravi Kishan starrer has recorded a strong opening on its first day, emerging as the fourth highest Hindi opener of 2026 so far. Early trade estimates put its Day 1 India net collection at around rs 25 crore, while its India gross is being reported at close to rs 30 crore.

Released in cinemas on September 4, 2026, the film marks the big screen expansion of the hugely popular Mirzapur franchise. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the movie brings several of the franchise’s best known characters back together, including Kaleen Bhaiyya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi. The cast also features Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan in prominent roles.

The opening is particularly significant because Mirzapur became a major streaming phenomenon before making the unusual jump from OTT to theatres. Despite the absence of a conventional Bollywood superstar led formula, the franchise’s established fan base appears to have translated into substantial ticket sales.

According to reported figures, the film registered around 11,135 shows on its opening day and surpassed the opening day performance of Awarapan 2, which had started at around rs 22 crore. The movie’s strong performance has consequently placed it among the year’s leading Hindi releases.

The film’s reported first day business, however, has varied slightly across tracking platforms as figures continue to be updated. One early Sacnilk update had it at rs 17.28 crore net by 7 pm, before later estimates moved substantially higher. Also an estimated rs 25.15 crore net, highlighting why final figures can differ until the day’s business is fully reconciled

The bigger test now is the weekend. With Saturday and Sunday ahead, Mirzapur: The Movie will need to maintain its momentum to turn its impressive opening into a sustained box-office run. For now, though, Kaleen Bhaiyya and company have delivered exactly what the franchise promised a strong theatrical bhaukaal.
