Bangladesh: Hindu Man Killed Amid Blasphemy Accusations During National Turmoil

A Hindu resident was fatally assaulted by an angry crowd in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district on Thursday evening, following accusations of blasphemous statements, as reported by police and BBC Bangla.
The victim, identified as Dipu Chandra Das, a young garment factory worker renting in the area, was targeted in Dubalia Para within Square Master Bari, located in Bhaluka Upazila.
According to Duty Officer Ripon Mia from Bhaluka Police Station, the mob confronted Das around 9 pm, claiming he had made offensive comments about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The attackers severely beat him, resulting in his death, before binding his body to a tree and igniting it.
Law enforcement officers arrived promptly at the scene to restore order. Das’s remains were subsequently retrieved and transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.
