Hyderabad : An IPS probationer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad has been hospitalised after a suspected suicide attempt, days after a fellow trainee accused him of harassment, stalking and assault, officials said. The incident comes shortly after a 30-year-old fellow IPS probationer filed a complaint accusing Reddy of stalking, assault, criminal intimidation and secretly recording a private video without her consent.
Based on her complaint, Hyderabad Police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Reddy sent her sexually abusive WhatsApp messages, made derogatory remarks about her before fellow trainees and repeatedly pressured her over his suspicions that she was involved with another probationer. She also claimed that he forcibly accessed her mobile phone, compelled her to unlock it, examined her private chats and took the device to his room.
The complainant further alleged that Reddy wrongfully restrained her, forced her into his room, assaulted her, pulled her hair, attempted to strangle her and threatened her with a knife while preventing her from leaving. She also claimed he threw packets of condoms at her during the incident and later attempted to touch her inappropriately during another alleged assault on July 10.
Among the most serious allegations, the woman claimed that Reddy secretly recorded a private video of her without her consent and later sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her. She also accused him of trying to tarnish her reputation by spreading false and derogatory information. In a two-page note recovered after the incident, Reddy denied all the allegations and claimed that he and the complainant had been in a consensual romantic relationship since June 2025. He alleged that the relationship continued physically and emotionally even after her marriage.
According to the note, Reddy claimed the woman repeatedly visited his room despite his objections and that he recorded their interactions only to protect himself. He further alleged that on one occasion she came to his room expressing a desire to be intimate, after which he recorded the interaction and later sent the video to her husband as proof. Reddy maintained that he acted only in self-defence and accused the woman of falsely implicating him after being influenced by her friends. He also sought action against the complainant, her husband and two other individuals.
