Jalandhar: Panic gripped parts of Punjab’s Jalandhar city after a blast occurred near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters, reportedly involving a parked scooter that caught fire. According to a report by India Today, the incident took place close to BSF Chowk, a busy area in the city, triggering alarm among residents and passersby.
Initial accounts suggest that the explosion originated from a delivery scooter, which soon burst into flames, prompting people nearby to flee for safety. Despite the sudden chaos, authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

Police teams quickly reached the site and secured the area while launching an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Officials stated that it is still too early to conclude whether the incident was accidental or the result of any deliberate act. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined, and individuals connected to the scooter are being questioned as part of the probe.
Senior police officials, including the city’s Police Commissioner, visited the location to assess the situation firsthand. Forensic experts, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, were also deployed to collect evidence and analyse the scene. Authorities emphasised that all possible angles are being investigated before drawing any conclusions.
According to PTI, the scooter was linked to a young delivery worker who regularly visited the area. Reports indicate that the vehicle caught fire suddenly, leading to the blast-like incident that caused widespread concern.
The episode has raised security concerns in the border state, especially given its proximity to sensitive installations. However, officials have reiterated that investigations are ongoing and more details will emerge once findings are confirmed.
