A police inquiry has been launched after a retired Hindu schoolteacher, his wife, daughter, and 12-year-old son were discovered dead inside their closed Rangpur city home under strange circumstances. The victims were found in a home in the Daspara (Machhuapara) neighborhood of the city at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. According to a report by The Daily Star, Nazmul Kader, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali officers Station, stated that officers found the dead after breaking into the locked residence.
The fatalities were named as retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 65; his wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, 50; their son, Priyam Chakraborty, 12; and their daughter, Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 23.
Locals claim that on December 31 of last year, Ganapati retired from Rangpur Zilla School. This year, his son Priyam was enrolled in Rangpur Zilla School’s Class 5, while his daughter Agami finished her Master’s degree in English at Rangpur Carmichael College.
Family members claimed that after they lost contact with the household, they started to worry. Pritilata’s younger sister, Puja Chakraborty, informed The Daily Star that she hadn’t spoken to her sister since Thursday afternoon. According to reports, the family had turned off all four of their cell phones since Thursday nite.
“On Saturday nite, we arrived in Daspara after discovering that their phones were turned off. All of the lights inside the home were out, and the main gate was locked. Later, police showed up, smashed the latch, and went inside the house to retrieve the remains, she added.
According to Puja, the family couldn’t figure out who might have slain the four relatives or what the motivation would have been. “I don’t understand why, when, or who killed my sister and her whole family. The husband of my sister was a wonderful man. He had no rivals. They were residing in a newly constructed home in Daspara. Ganapati’s niece Soma Chakraborty added that she hadn’t spoken to her uncle since Thursday afternoon. On Saturday nite, she learned of the deaths and made her way to the residence.
“I came here and saw his body on Saturday nite after learning the news. There were also the bodies of my brother, sister, and aunt. There were no adversaries for my uncle. He began working as a homeopathic practitioner after finishing school, she claimed. The circumstances behind the fatalities are being investigated by police and investigative organizations. Police, the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Detective Branch have started looking into the incident, according to OC Nazmul Kader.
As of right today, four people’s bodies have been found. He stated, “We have not yet been able to establish any details about the incident.”
The Rangpur Metropolitan CID’s chief investigator, Subir Chowdhury, gave information on the location of the dead’ discovery within the home. He informed The Daily Star that Ganapati’s body was discovered on the roof, while the mother and daughter’s remains were collected from the stairway. He claimed that his son’s body was discovered beneath a bed. “We’re looking into it. “Who was responsible for the killings will be determined by the investigation,” he stated.
The precise circumstances, cause, and time of the fatalities are still unknown. As part of the investigation, police and the investigating agencies are still inspecting the area and gathering data.
