Assam’s flood situation improved on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, but one person died in the state’s Charaideo area, bringing the total number of fatalities in less than a month to eleven. According to an update from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 3.13 lakh people are still impacted in 11 districts, compared to 3.63 lakh persons in 16 districts on Monday, July 20, 2026. The districts most severely impacted are still Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat. Floods in the Charaideo district claimed a life, according to an ASDMA official. 12,720 individuals are currently residing in 52 assistance camps set up by officials in the flood-affected districts. 9,160 trapped individuals were rescued by boats.
Additionally, the ASDMA reported urban floods from six Guwahati neighborhoods. Satgaon, Sawkuchi, Notboma, Boragaon, Maligaon, and Chandmari are among them.
According to the official, “landslides were reported from five areas of Guwahati on Monday [July 20, 2026] evening.”
The Brahmaputra River at Neamatighat, the Buridihing River at Khowang, the Dikhou River at Sivasagar, the Disang River at Nganglamuraghat, and the Dhansiri River at Golaghat and Numaligarh were all flowing above the danger threshold, according to the statistics presented.
