Amit Shah Targets TMC With 15-Year ‘Chargesheet’, Vows Border Fencing Within 45 Days If BJP Wins Bengal

With barely a month to go before West Bengal votes, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday held a press conference in Kolkata where he unveiled what he called a 15-year ‘chargesheet’ against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress. Both parties are in full campaign mode ahead of the state’s two-phase assembly elections.
Shah called West Bengal a victim of “anarchy” under TMC rule and said the polls matter not just for the state but for the country.

On infiltration a core BJP campaign issue he pointed to Assam as a template. “Infiltration in Assam has been stopped, and now the only entry point for infiltrators is in Bengal,” he said. If the BJP wins power, Shah promised, land for border fencing will be arranged within 45 days of the new government taking charge. West Bengal votes on April 23 and April 29. Results on May 4.
