
Kolkata: Renowned Indian actor Rajesh Sharma, celebrated for his powerful performances in films like Bhooth Bangla, Mirzapur, and Jamtara, has been hospitalized in serious condition following a suspected insect bite sustained during the filming of an upcoming project starring Prabhas.
The incident reportedly occurred at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad after a day’s shoot wrapped up. According to updates shared by actress Sudipa Chatterjee on behalf of Sharma’s family, the veteran actor was interacting with local technicians in a densely vegetated area when he felt a bite on his leg. Initially dismissing it as minor, Sharma did not seek immediate medical help. However, his condition rapidly deteriorated upon returning to Kolkata, leading to severe infection in his right leg, high fever, swelling, and breathing difficulties.
Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in Dhakuria, West Bengal, where he is under close observation in the critical care unit. Doctors have indicated that he is “not yet out of danger,” with concerns over potential complications such as blood clots. Prosenjit Chatterjee and other industry colleagues have extended support to the actor and his family during this challenging time.
Rajesh Sharma, known for his versatile roles across Bengali and Hindi cinema, was shooting for Prabhas’ next film tentatively linked to projects like Fauzi Spirit or similar high-profile ventures.
