Air India Cancels International Flights To Chicago, Shanghai, Singapore, Male And Dhaka

New Delhi: Air India has announced a temporary suspension and reduction of several international flight services between June and August 2026, affecting routes across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. According to NDTV, the airline cited soaring jet fuel prices and continued airspace restrictions as the primary reasons behind the operational changes.

Among the major routes impacted are flights connecting Delhi with Chicago and Shanghai, along with services to Singapore, Dhaka, and Male. The airline has also reduced frequencies on multiple international sectors as it attempts to manage increasing operational pressure caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia and restrictions over several air corridors.

Reuters reported that rising fuel costs, longer flying durations, and restricted access to key airspaces have significantly increased expenses for Indian carriers, especially for long-haul routes to Europe and North America. Pakistan’s continuing airspace ban for Indian airlines has added further operational challenges.

According to reports by The Times of India and Economic Times, Air India’s revised schedule will affect routes across Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and SAARC nations. However, the airline stated that it will continue operating more than 1,200 international flights each month despite the temporary cuts.

NDTV noted that the aviation sector is currently facing mounting pressure due to the instability in West Asia, which has disrupted global fuel supply chains and increased aviation turbine fuel prices. These developments have forced airlines to reassess operations and optimize route planning.

Air India has advised passengers to regularly check flight schedules and stay updated regarding any changes to their travel plans as the airline continues monitoring the evolving situation.
