Thalapathy Vijay’s “Jana Nagyan” To Not Release Before April 30?

Actor-Politician Vijay’s film “Jana Nayagan” continues to be in legal tussle with CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification). The movie is set to delay its release amid the growing speculation. It is anticipated to hit the theaters not before April 30.

Confirming the details about the release of the film “Jana Nayagan” the canadian distributor York Cinemas informed that it won’t hit the theaters before April 30. The update made the fans disappointed as the distributor informed it via a social media page.

On Saturday, the distributors issued a statement on X announcing the update and urged audiences to seek refund of the movie in wake of the late release of the film.

The film is in limbo as with the upcoming elections in April of Tamil Nadu Assembly it is quite obvious that the movie won’t be released beforehand. With many users asking for the film date to release there is a wave of reactions on social media platforms regarding its approval too. Some users asked whether the update has been officially confirmed by the makers.

Issue Behind Delay Of Jana Nayagan

Originally slated for a theatrical release on January 9, the film became entangled in litigation after certification issues with the censor board. On January 27, a two-judge bench of the Madras High Court set aside an earlier January 9 order by a single-judge bench that had directed the CBFC to certify the film. The division bench ruled that the censor board should have been given adequate time to file its counter and referred the matter back to a single-judge bench for further consideration.

In February, the producer, KVN Productions, withdrew its petition seeking court directions for the CBFC to grant certification. This move followed a month-long legal tussle and paved the way for the revising committee to examine the film for certification.

As of now, Jana Nayagan remains uncertified, and both KVN Productions and the CBFC have declined to comment publicly on the issue.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features a prominent cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani. The project is reportedly a remake of the 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari.
