‘The Vvaan’ Box Office Day 1: Sidharth Malhotra Tamannaah Bhatia Film Opens At Rs 8 Crore

Mumbai: Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s supernatural thriller The Vvaan: Force of the Forest has opened in cinemas with an estimated rs 8 crore net collection in India, according to Sacnilk data. The film, which arrived on September 25, recorded the figure across 6,746 shows on its opening day. Its reported worldwide gross stood at approximately rs 9 crore, including around rs 1 crore from overseas markets.
The film registered an overall 28.25% occupancy for its Hindi 2D screenings on Friday. The strongest response came during the night shows, which recorded 41.46% occupancy. Evening shows registered 26.08%, followed by afternoon shows at 24% and morning shows at 12.23%.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, The Vvaan blends Indian folklore, supernatural elements, action and fantasy. The story follows Rishi, played by Sidharth Malhotra, an urban man who returns to his ancestral village in Bihar with his wife Mamta, portrayed by Tamannaah Bhatia. What begins as a trip connected to his family’s land soon draws him into the village’s beliefs surrounding a forbidden forest.
Rishi initially approaches the village and its traditions from a rational perspective. However, his decision to enter the forest despite warnings sets off a chain of supernatural events. The film uses the conflict between tradition, development, faith and the mysterious forces associated with the forest as the foundation for its thriller narrative.
The movie also features Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari and Anup Soni in supporting roles. It marks the first on screen pairing of Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film is set against the backdrop of Chhath Puja, adding a cultural dimension to its folklore driven storyline.
The Vvaan has received mixed responses from critics and audiences following its release. Reviews have particularly discussed its folklore based premise, atmosphere and visual ambition, while some have pointed to uneven storytelling and character development.
With the opening weekend now underway, the film’s subsequent collections will determine whether audience interest translates into stronger numbers over the coming days. The rs 8 crore Day 1 figure remains an estimate and may be revised as final box-office data is updated.
