Nani’s latest film The Paradise has landed in the middle of a new controversy, with BookMyShow disabling its ratings and audience reviews just two days after the film’s theatrical release. The move comes amid a mixed response to the Srikanth Odela directed action drama and shortly after Nani acknowledged criticism surrounding the film.
The BookMyShow listing for The Paradise currently carries the message “Rating & Review Disabled.” However, the ticketing platform has not publicly explained why the feature was switched off or indicated when reviews will be restored. Reports also indicate that the restriction is appearing on some listings, while at least one other city listing continues to display an audience rating, suggesting the situation may not be uniform across the platform.
The development follows Nani’s post on X on September 25, in which the actor addressed the response to the film. Nani said he had seen the reactions, appreciated the affection from audiences and had also “learnt from the flaws” pointed out by critics and reviewers.
The timing has renewed attention on a Bengaluru court order obtained by the film’s makers before its release. The court had restrained the circulation of specifically identified allegedly defamatory online content concerning The Paradise. According to reports, the order was not a blanket ban on criticism or genuine reviews. Nani had earlier said the legal action was aimed at targeted, AI generated or bot driven material rather than genuine audience feedback. The matter is scheduled for a further hearing on October 28.
The Paradise opened in theatres on September 24 following paid premieres the previous day. It recorded Nani’s biggest opening, collecting rs 34.65 crore net in India on its first day. Collections reportedly fell to rs 14.90 crore net on Day 2, while the worldwide gross after two days was reported at rs 98.50 crore.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, the period action drama stars Nani alongside Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal.
For now, the central question remains unanswered why has BookMyShow disabled reviews for The Paradise? Until the platform provides an official explanation, any direct link between the move, Nani’s comments or the court order remains unconfirmed.
