AI Deepfake Outrage: Vijay Deverakonda Demands Strict Action Over Janhvi Kapoor Video

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has strongly condemned a circulating AI-generated deepfake video that morphs Janhvi Kapoor’s appearance from the popular song “Chuttamalle” in the film Devara: Part 1.Calling the act the “digital equivalent of sexual assault,” he demanded the harshest legal consequences for those responsible.

The altered clip, which uses artificial intelligence to place Kapoor’s likeness into sexually explicit and degrading content that never existed in the original song, went viral on social media. Jr NTR, who starred opposite Kapoor in the film, was the first to speak out. He described the video as “disgusting, sick and shameless” and announced he would pursue legal action against both the creators and those sharing it. He also urged the public not to watch, share or engage with the material.

Backing NTR’s stance, Deverakonda posted on X: “We have stooped to the levels of absolute lowlife. Whoever is responsible for this should not be spared. They must face the harshest possible legal consequences and be made an example of.” He questioned society’s growing insensitivity, asking what kind of parenting and culture allows people to find joy in degrading others. Highlighting the irony of global concerns about AI taking jobs, he said some were instead using the technology for “utter nonsense.”

“This is the digital equivalent of sexual assault. The law must treat such acts with utmost seriousness,” Deverakonda wrote, while extending full support to those standing against the video. Other industry figures, including Chiranjeevi, have also condemned the deepfake.

The incident has reignited debates on the misuse of AI for non-consensual explicit content and the urgent need for stronger legal frameworks to protect individuals, especially women, from digital exploitation.
