AR Rahman and Diljit Dosanjh Team Up for ‘Kya Kamaal Hai’ from Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’

AR Rahman and Diljit Dosanjh are set to collaborate for the first time on a new song titled Kya Kamaal Hai, part of the soundtrack for director Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga. The announcement has already sparked wide excitement on social media, with fans reacting enthusiastically to the pairing.
The track is written by lyricist Irshad Kamil. According to a press note quoted by ANI, the song “serves as a gentle reminder of the beautiful world we live in, one where love is abundant, happiness outweighs sorrow, and togetherness has the power to break every barrier.” The makers have described it as a “song of hope” that draws on themes of love and resilience in difficult times.
A video shared by Instant Bollywood showing Rahman and Dosanjh posing together has since gone viral.
Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead, with Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles. The film reunites Rahman, Kamil, and Ali the trio behind the soundtracks of Rockstar, Highway, and Tamasha.

Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan, the romantic drama explores “stolen glances, unfinished conversations, and memories that refuse to fade away” a story built around love and longing.
The one-minute-thirteen-second teaser, released in March, opens with a narration by Dosanjh and introduces Naseeruddin Shah’s character lying in a hospital bed. Vedang Raina plays the younger version of the same character, with Sharvari as his love interest.
The film is produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Mohit Choudhary, and Shibhasish Sarkar under Window Seat Films and presented by Applause Entertainment. Main Vaapas Aaunga is scheduled to release on June 12.
