FBI Director Kash Patel has become engaged to country singer and political commentator Alexis Wilkins. The couple shared the news on social media on Sunday.
Wilkins posted a black-and-white photograph of herself with Patel in which she displayed her engagement ring. In the caption she wrote, “Went and got the law involved,” a light-hearted reference to Patel’s role as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Patel later reposted the announcement on his own account, adding heart and engagement-ring emojis.
Patel, 46, and Wilkins, 27, have been in a relationship for more than three years. They first met at a gathering in Nashville in 2022 and began dating in early 2023. Wilkins is a country music performer who has also built a public profile as a political commentator. She released her debut album in 2023 and has appeared at several conservative and political events, including those linked to President Donald Trump’s movement.
Wilkins was present when Patel was sworn in as FBI director in February 2025 following his confirmation by the US Senate. Patel, a former Trump administration official and congressional investigator, became the ninth person of Indian descent to lead the bureau after being nominated by Trump. His confirmation faced opposition from Democrats, who raised questions about his experience and political independence.
The couple’s relationship had earlier drawn public attention because of Patel’s official position and Wilkins’ political activities. Patel has also faced scrutiny over the use of FBI aircraft for certain personal and political-related travel, including one instance involving a flight to Pennsylvania for an event at which Wilkins performed the national anthem.
