Over 200 ISI-Linked Operatives Arrested Before 15th August, Were Planning A Terror Attack: HM Amit Shah

On August 15, India’s 80th Independence Day, security forces dismantled the ISI-backed terror group Shahzad Bhatti Network and foiled plans for “subversive attacks” thru coordinated operations at several locations, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday.

Shah posted on X (previously Twitter) on Monday afternoon that security authorities had detained over 200 terror organization members in 14 states.

“Ahead of Independence Day, the Modi government destroyed the terror group Shahzad Bhatti Network, which was backed by the ISI, and thwarted its plans for subversive attacks by arresting more than 200 operatives,” the tweet stated.

Shah praised the interstate operation as an illustration of India’s “zero-tolerance” stance against terrorism.

According to the Union home minister, the security forces found a significant amount of materiel purportedly connected to the network, including CCTV cameras, pistols, live ammunition, grenades with Pakistan Ordnance Factory marks, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

He said that espionage was being conducted via the CCTV cameras.

Shah further asserted that the network was involved in a number of terrorist acts, but he did not describe the occurrences or identify the agencies that carried out the coordinated operations.
