Mumbai Megablock: Commuters Brace For Major Disruptions

Mumbai’s suburban railway network is set for significant interruptions on Sunday, March 15, 2026, as Western Railway and Central Railway schedule essential maintenance and operational blocks. These works will affect fast and suburban services on the Western Line overnight, along with full suspension of Transharbour local trains during the day.

Western Railway has planned a jumbo block on the up and down fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar, running from 12:15 am to 3:45 am. During this period, all fast trains will operate on the slow lines between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali to maintain some connectivity.

Additionally, a major block will be in place at Prabhadevi station on all lines from 1:30 am to 6:00 am to facilitate operational tasks and the de-launching of a girder for the Prabhadevi Road Over Bridge. As a result, certain suburban trains will be cancelled, short-terminated, or reversed at Dadar and Bandra. No suburban services will run between Churchgate and Prabhadevi, with trains also suspended at Matunga Road and Mahim stations during the block window.

The disruptions will extend to several Mail and Express trains, which face regulation or rescheduling between Surat and Virar. Western Railway has confirmed that no daytime blocks are scheduled on the suburban section for Sunday, March 15.

On the Central Railway side, a mega block has been announced on the Transharbour line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul for track and signal maintenance. Effective from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm, this will lead to the complete cancellation of all up and down local services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul, as well as between Thane and Panvel.

Commuters are advised to check official updates and plan alternative travel arrangements to minimize inconvenience caused by these necessary infrastructure works.
