YouTube Removes Subscriptions Tab From Mobile App In New Layout Test

YouTube is reportedly experimenting with a fresh redesign for its mobile application, introducing changes that could alter the way users navigate the platform. According to ABP Live, the company is currently testing a new interface that removes the Subscriptions tab from the bottom navigation bar and relocates it to a swipeable menu positioned near the top of the screen.

The redesigned layout places the Subscriptions feed alongside other content categories such as “Music” and “New to You” below the YouTube logo. Reports suggest that an additional “Home” tab also appears within this upper menu despite the existing Home button remaining in the bottom navigation section.

The change was first noticed by users testing the app and was later acknowledged by YouTube. For users who regularly depend on the Subscriptions feed to track videos from their favourite creators, the update may affect everyday browsing habits and app accessibility.

As reported by ABP Live, several users have expressed concerns online over the redesigned navigation system, especially regarding one-handed usage and the reduced visibility of the Subscriptions feature. Discussions on Reddit also reflected frustration among some users who viewed the update as an unnecessary interface adjustment.

Industry observers believe the test may indicate YouTube’s broader strategy to reorganise content discovery and user engagement across the mobile platform. However, the company has not confirmed whether the experimental layout will be rolled out globally or remain limited to selected users.
