Rishabh Pant Creates Indian Record with 100th Test Six, India Have a Great Chance to Beat Sri Lanka

Galle: Before India’s second innings in the first Test against Sri Lanka ended at 193, Rishabh Pant achieved a major milestone by becoming the first Indian to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.

The second six Pant hit in India’s second innings today was his 100th in Test cricket. In the all-time record books, Ben Stokes leads with 138 sixes, followed by Brendon McCullum with 107 and Adam Gilchrist with 100, while Pant is now fourth on the list.

Sri Lanka have been set a challenging target of 372 runs to win the Test. Tomorrow is the final day, and if rain stays away, India have an excellent opportunity to win the match and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Pant was the only Indian batter to score a half-century, making 66. He struck two sixes and eight fours in his 69-ball innings. Devdutt Padikkal contributed 44 runs, while KL Rahul scored 35.

Fast bowler Fernando claimed four wickets, spinner Prabath Jayasuriya took three, while fellow pacer Lahiru Kumara picked up two wickets.

Kumara broke the 54-run sixth-wicket partnership between Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, who scored eight. He dismissed both batters to end the partnership.
