Sourav Ganguly Appointed Head Coach of Delhi Capitals

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been appointed head coach of the Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals. The announcement was made on Tuesday.

Ganguly has been associated with the franchise since 2019, when he first joined as an advisor. Over the years he has held several key positions within the Capitals set-up, including the role of Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s teams.

In a statement, Ganguly expressed enthusiasm for the new responsibility. “I am looking forward to take on the role of Head Coach in the IPL. Delhi Capitals is a franchise very close to my heart, and one that I have shared a strong relationship with over the years,” he said. “I have worked closely with the owners, management, support staff and players, which makes this an exciting responsibility for me. We have a talented group and have played a good brand of cricket in the recent past. I am looking forward to working with the squad, the new season, and building a strong and fearless team.”

The appointment marks a significant step in Ganguly’s continued involvement with the franchise, moving from advisory and directorial roles into the primary coaching position. Delhi Capitals will look to build on their recent performances under his guidance as they prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
