Manchester: Pep Guardiola is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the ongoing Premier League season, according to a report by ESPN citing sources familiar with the matter. The club’s management has chosen not to make any announcement publicly, to avoid creating distractions ahead of their final two matches of the season.
Guardiola’s current contract runs until 2027, but a break clause in the agreement allows him to exit at the season’s end.
City still have a title fight on their hands, sitting behind league leaders Arsenal with two games remaining. A loss or draw against Bournemouth in their penultimate fixture would end their hopes of a seventh Premier League title in ten years under Guardiola. He guided the club to four consecutive league titles from the 2020-21 to the 2023-24 seasons — the first time any club had achieved that feat in the competition’s history.
Guardiola added to his trophy haul on Saturday, May 16, beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final to claim his 20th trophy as City manager.
