Urvil Patel’s Respectful Gesture Towards Dhoni Wins Hearts

Chennai: A small moment involving young Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel and cricket legend MS Dhoni during Monday’s IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium won hearts across social media.

Mehsana-born Urvil Patel, who has already created several records in domestic cricket for Gujarat, has become a dependable one-down batter for Chennai. Although MS Dhoni has not played in this IPL season due to fitness concerns, his presence around the team continues to inspire the players. Every word of advice from Dhoni remains valuable for youngsters, while his vast experience serves as motivation for the squad.

After a photo session on the field at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday, Dhoni was seen carrying the chair on which he had been sitting as he walked back with the group. Urvil Patel, who was nearby, immediately noticed it and rushed towards him.

“Sir, this is not something you should be doing… please let me do it,” Urvil reportedly told Dhoni before gently taking the chair from his hands and carrying it himself. Dhoni, impressed by the youngster’s humility and respect, smiled warmly and thanked him.

The video and photographs of the incident quickly went viral on social media, with fans widely praising Urvil Patel for his courteous behaviour and the respect he showed towards Dhoni.

Cricket is often called the “Gentleman’s Game,” and Dhoni himself is known worldwide for his calm and humble personality. Famous as the “Cool Captain,” Dhoni’s qualities have influenced countless cricketers over the years, and Monday’s touching moment was seen as another reflection of that culture.

In the match, Hyderabad chased down Chennai’s 180/7 by scoring 181/5 in 19 overs to register a five-wicket victory. Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match for his 70 runs off 47 balls.

While Chennai continue to battle for a playoff spot, the Dhoni-Urvil moment has become one of the biggest talking points online, with many fans calling it “pure CSK culture.”
