BCCI Announces Squad For Zimbabwe T20I’s, Samson Dropped, Rinku And Mayank Return

For the next T20I series against Zimbabwe, which will begin in Harare on July 23, India have named a 15-man team. There are a number of changes from the team that is presently playing England. Sanju Samson has been left out due to his ongoing poor performance. The right hander who was the MOTM in the T20 WC Final and had three back to back match winning performances in the T20 WC knockouts finds himself dropped, with Ishan Kishan to handle the keeping duties. Additionally excluded are Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna.

Rinku Singh is among the returning players, while Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur have received their first India call-ups. Additionally, Prabhsimran Singh, who was the final member of the team for the 2023 Asian Games, has been summoned back. Harsh Dubey, who has no T20I cap, and Mayank Yadav, who last played for India in 2024, round out the names.

Yash Thakur and Ashok Sharma both had outstanding Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy seasons, taking 18 and 22 wickets, respectively. Notably, Thakur collected his wickets at an economy rate of 6.80 and an excellent average of 9.88 in just seven games. In the meanwhile, Sharma made his Gujarat Titans IPL debut, taking six wickets in as many games. He also bowled the fastest delivery of the season, clocking in at 154.2 kph. Both players most recently traveled to Sri Lanka with the India A team. For his reliable IPL performances, Prabhsimran Singh has received recognition. He scored 510 runs from 14 games at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 168.87 in 2026 after scoring 579 runs in 2025.

Mayank Yadav, who has been sidelined by injuries, also rejoins the team for the first time since 2024. Mayank returned to action in early 2026, playing for India A in a T20 World Cup warm-up match against the USA after missing the first part of IPL 2025 and being sidelined midway through the season. In the four IPL games he participated in in 2026, he was also wicketless.

After earning his India debut in the June ODI series against Afghanistan, Harsh Dubey has also earned his first T20I call-up. In the 2026 Indian Premier League, he played in eight games for Sunrisers Hyderabad and claimed the same number of wickets.
