Manav Suthar has taken 23 wickets in three Tests, bringing a new turn to India’s bowling attack

Colombo: The seventh wicket Sri Lanka lost at a score of 330 in their second innings after lunch today was the 23rd wicket of 24-year-old Indian spinner Manav Suthar’s brief Test career.

Manav Suthar has given India’s Test bowling attack a completely new direction since making his international debut. He took a total of seven wickets in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June. In the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka, he claimed 10 wickets. After taking three wickets in Sri Lanka’s first innings of the second Test, he picked up his third wicket in the second innings today to take his career tally to 23.

Starting his career alongside established stars such as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, Manav has made an immediate impact. He has taken a total of 23 wickets in his first three Tests.

Manav provided Team India with a crucial breakthrough this morning by dismissing Keshara Nuwantha. Keshara faced 150 balls and remained at the crease for a long period, scoring 46 runs. He and Sonal Dinusha put together a 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Manav’s delivery first spun in the air and then turned sharply after pitching. Keshara attempted to play defensively but ended up giving an easy catch to Dhruv Jurel at slip.
