New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday took stock of the situation following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station that claimed 13 lives and left several injured. High alert has been issued across major cities including Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, Hyderabad, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai as security agencies step up vigilance.
Home Minister Directs Immediate Action
Speaking soon after the explosion, Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that he had discussed the matter with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha. He said that orders had been issued to begin a comprehensive investigation, with central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams already deployed at the scene.
As reported by news agency ANI, the Delhi Fire Department received a call at around 7 PM about an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast triggered fires in nearby vehicles, with three to four cars sustaining significant damage. Seven fire tenders and multiple police units swiftly reached the site.

Amit Shah’s Statement on the Blast
In an official update, Shah shared key details regarding the incident:
- Around 7 PM, a Hyundai i20 car exploded at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi.
- The blast caused injuries to pedestrians and damaged several nearby vehicles. Preliminary reports confirmed casualties.
- Delhi Police’s Crime Branch and Special Branch teams reached the site within ten minutes of the explosion.
- NSG, NIA, and forensic teams are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the cause and nature of the blast.
- Instructions have been issued to scan all CCTV footage in and around the blast location. Shah said he remains in close contact with the Delhi CP and senior officials overseeing the probe.
- He assured the public that all possible leads and scenarios will be examined thoroughly.
- The Home Minister said he would personally visit the explosion site and later meet the injured at the hospital.
Security on High Alert Nationwide
Following the blast, Delhi and several other states have tightened security. Police forces have been directed to increase surveillance at crowded areas, metro stations, and public transport hubs. Sensitive zones in North India, particularly Delhi’s central area, remain under close watch as the investigation continues.
