Ahmedabad: Security has been tightened across Ahmedabad following the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed over eight lives. National security agencies have gone on alert, and Gujarat police have ramped up surveillance and preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
Ahmedabad Police Steps Up Security
In the wake of the Delhi blast, Ahmedabad Police have been placed on alert, particularly in sensitive zones across the city. Officials have begun strict checking at crowded and high-footfall areas, including public gatherings and major markets.
According to police sources, all station heads have been instructed to remain at their respective headquarters and maintain full readiness. The directive emphasizes constant vigilance to prevent any serious incident. The move comes as part of broader security coordination across Gujarat, especially after the recent arrests of suspected terrorists in Gandhinagar.
Connection to Gandhinagar Terror Arrests
Just two days earlier, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested three suspected terrorists from Gandhinagar. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had carried out reconnaissance operations in busy areas of Ahmedabad, potentially planning a large-scale attack.
Authorities also suspect the men were planning to use ricin poison for their operation. The arrested trio is believed to be part of an ISIS module that was being monitored by intelligence agencies. Officials confirmed that the suspects were apprehended before they could execute their plans.
Heightened Vigilance Across Gujarat
Following coordinated intelligence inputs linking the Delhi blast and the arrests in Gujarat, all police units across the state have been placed on high security alert. Law enforcement officials said their goal is to ensure public safety through continuous monitoring and patrolling, with a special focus on crowded zones and sensitive areas in Ahmedabad.
