Bengaluru – In a disturbing revelation from a high-profile murder investigation, a Bengaluru-based surgeon confessed in a private message to his lover that he had killed his wife to be with her, according to police officials.
Dr. Mahendra Reddy, a general surgeon, allegedly sent the incriminating text—”I killed my wife for you”—via a digital payment app to the woman he was romantically involved with, shortly after the fatal incident. Authorities uncovered the message during a forensic examination of his mobile device, as confirmed by Bengaluru police.
The unnamed woman has been questioned, and her statement documented, though her identity remains under wraps to protect her privacy.

The case centers on the death of Dr. Kruthika Reddy, Mahendra’s wife and fellow dermatologist, who succumbed on April 21 at their Bengaluru residence. Mahendra rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead after suddenly falling ill. Initially treated as a natural demise, the incident took a sinister turn following a detailed probe.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) analysis detected high levels of Propofol—a potent anesthetic—in Kruthika’s organs, pointing to deliberate overdose. During a search of the couple’s home, investigators seized critical items: a cannula set, injection tubing, and assorted medical supplies, underscoring the premeditated nature of the act.
Armed with the FSL findings, Kruthika’s father lodged a formal complaint accusing his son-in-law of foul play. Mahendra was taken into custody on October 15—nearly six months later—after evidence mounted against him.
Police suspect the surgeon exploited his professional knowledge to stage the death as routine illness. “The evidence so far implicates the husband directly,” stated Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. “He transported her to the hospital without disclosing any anomalies, insisting she was simply unwell and under care. But the injection of sedatives reveals clear malicious intent.”
The couple, both employed at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, had wed on May 26, 2024, marking the start of a union that ended in tragedy just months later.
This case highlights the shadowy intersections of personal betrayal and lethal deception within the medical fraternity, as authorities continue to unravel the full scope of the motive
