A major explosion at a firecracker factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district on Monday afternoon killed 8 people, left about two dozen injured, while nearly 15 others were thought trapped within the premises, officials said.
Police, firefighters, and Air Force troops stationed nearby initiated a coordinated rescue effort when the explosion happened in the vicinity of the Pipri police station, which is close to the Manori power house.
The fire department had put out the fire, according to Kaushambi District Magistrate Amit Pal, and rescue efforts were in progress to free individuals who were stranded inside the factory.

According to him, five seriously injured people were saved from the scene and sent to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj for further care.
According to officials, the explosion caused five or six houses next to the plant to collapse, causing additional damage to adjoining structures.
According to the district administration, teams from the Air Force, police, and fire department from Kaushambi and Prayagraj participated in the rescue effort. The Manori Air Force Station is about two kilometers away from the scene.
