Mumbai: Mumbai experienced another warm and humid morning on Sunday, June 14, with temperatures hovering around 32 degrees Celsius as the city continued to wait for the arrival of the southwest monsoon.
According to weather forecasts, uncomfortable conditions are likely to persist across the city over the next few days due to the delayed advancement of the monsoon. High humidity levels have further added to the discomfort for residents.
Temperature And Weather Conditions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Mumbai’s temperature is expected to remain between 30 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius. Despite cloudy intervals in some areas, the city continued to witness sultry weather conditions on Sunday morning.
Humidity levels remained high, making the weather feel warmer than the recorded temperature. Mild winds offered limited relief from the sticky conditions prevailing across Mumbai and nearby suburbs.
Monsoon Delay Continues
The southwest monsoon, which generally reaches Mumbai around June 11, has been delayed this year. Weather experts have indicated that the advancement of monsoon currents has slowed, leading to prolonged hot and humid conditions in the city.
As reported by Free Press Journal, significant rainfall activity is expected only after the monsoon system regains strength over the coming days.
IMD Forecast
The IMD has indicated that hot and humid weather is likely to continue in Mumbai until monsoon activity intensifies. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the afternoon heat.
Meanwhile, weather agencies are closely monitoring the progress of the southwest monsoon across Maharashtra and adjoining regions.
