Mumbai Nair Hospital Bomb Threat: Email Warning Of 4 PM Blast Triggers Police Probe

Mumbai: Panic briefly gripped Mumbai on Sunday after a threatening email claimed that a bomb had been planted at the city’s BYL Nair Hospital and would explode at around 4 pm. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the alarming message prompted an immediate security response from authorities.
Hospital officials quickly informed the Mumbai Police after receiving the email warning. Soon after, multiple police teams along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) were dispatched to the medical facility to assess the situation and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
Security personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the hospital premises following standard bomb threat protocols. Officers carefully searched various sections of the hospital complex to check for any suspicious objects or explosive materials. However, officials later confirmed that nothing unusual or dangerous was discovered during the operation.
Despite the absence of any explosives, the threat created concern among hospital employees and patients, particularly because the email reportedly warned doctors and staff to stay alert. The message triggered a sense of urgency at the busy public healthcare facility, which receives a large number of visitors every day.
Police have since registered a case against an unidentified individual in connection with the threatening message. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the email and identify the person responsible for sending it.
The report by the Free Press Journal noted that the incident occurred just days after the Mumbai Police arrested a 28-year-old man from New Barrackpore in West Bengal for allegedly sending bomb threat emails to nearly 50 locations across the country. Authorities said the threats targeted various establishments, including schools, metro stations and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Officials have continued the investigation to determine whether the latest threat is linked to similar incidents or if it was a separate case.
