Maharashtra To Get Rainfall This Week; IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Five Regions

Mumbai: After the first heatwave of the month, Maharashtra is expected to witness rainfall this week. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Yellow Alerts for the Konkan, Marthwada, Central Maharashtra, North Maharashtra and Vidharbha region for Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds for the next five days.

Yellow Alert Issued in Maharashtra

Even if no warning is set for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts as of Sunday evening, the region might witness light rains or thundershowers. The skies will be partly cloudy as per local weather forecast for Mumbai City and suburbs for the next 48 hours and maximum & minimum temperatures will be around 33 degree C and 25 degree C respectively.

Over the weekend, hot and muggy weather persisted in the city. The IMD officials claim that even while the maximum temperature stays below 36°C, the rising minimum temperature and increased humidity cause discomfort and elevated body temperatures.

The Santacruz observatory in Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8°C on Sunday, which was 2°C higher than average. The minimum temperature was 24°C. Mumbai typically has a minimum temperature of about 22°C. The body experiences a hot summer and high humidity if it rises over that, according to officials.

The IMD’s special weather bulletin for the next five days states that the Konkan region’s maximum and minimum temperatures won’t fluctuate much. For the next two days, the maximum temperature in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada areas would stay between 41 and 43°C before gradually declining. For the next seven days, no change in the minimum temperature is anticipated.
