Texas: A sudden power outage at the popular Six Flags Over Texas amusement park left several rollercoaster riders stranded high above the ground, forcing emergency evacuations along the tracks. Viral videos circulating on social media showed adults and children carefully climbing down steep emergency stairways after multiple rides stopped mid-operation.
According to Firstpost and reports by MySA, the disruption occurred on Saturday after an external construction crew accidentally struck an underground power line, causing a temporary blackout across parts of the park. The outage reportedly affected attractions including the “Mr. Freeze” coaster and the towering “Titan” ride.
Eyewitness videos posted online captured tense moments as park staff guided riders to safety. Some guests described the experience as frightening, particularly those already nervous about high-altitude rollercoasters. One visitor shared on TikTok that the entire park suddenly went dark while people were waiting in line for a ride.
The Titan rollercoaster, one of the tallest attractions at the park, rises nearly 245 feet and can reach speeds of up to 85 mph. Officials confirmed that all visitors were safely escorted off the rides and no injuries were reported during the incident. Guests affected by the outage were also offered complimentary return tickets.
Six Flags spokesperson Cyle Perez told MySA that power was eventually restored and the park continued operations until its scheduled closing time later that evening. Normal operations resumed the following day.
