BTS To Hold A Free Concert At Gwanghwamun Square? Read Here

Global K-pop phenomenon BTS may soon treat fans to a complimentary open-air performance in the heart of Seoul, as speculation mounts over a potential show at the historic Gwanghwamun Square. The event would mark an early celebration of the group’s full reunion following their military service hiatus, setting the stage for their official comeback later this year.

According to reports from The Korea Herald, the seven-member group is considering a free concert in March at this prominent public venue. This would precede the release of their new album, titled ARIRANG, slated for March 20, and the launch of an extensive world tour beginning in April, reportedly featuring as many as 70 shows.

The rumors gained traction after HYBE—BTS’s agency, through its label BigHit Music—submitted applications to the Cultural Heritage Administration seeking permission to use and film at several culturally significant sites, including Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Sungnyemun Gate. The proposed event carries the working title “K-Heritage and K-Pop Fusion Performance,” signaling an intent to merge traditional Korean elements with contemporary music.

In response to the widespread online buzz, a BigHit Music representative issued a formal statement to media outlets, including Newsen. The agency confirmed, “We are currently discussing it, and an official announcement will be made once the location and schedule are finalized.”

BTS has been steadily rebuilding momentum since completing their mandatory military duties. The youngest member, Jungkook, was discharged last June, and the group has since confirmed preparations for fresh music and a subsequent tour. They have maintained close ties with their global fanbase, known as ARMY, through regular live streams sharing updates on their creative process.

While no concrete details on timing or format have been confirmed, the possibility of a free public concert at such an emblematic location underscores BTS’s desire to reconnect with fans in their home country as they embark on this new chapter.
