NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak: Pune Doctor Detained As Probe Deepens

The NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy has once again put India’s medical entrance system under scrutiny. In the latest development, a Pune-based doctor has been detained for allegedly helping students secure admissions through illegal means linked to the exam leak case.

The doctor, identified as Omkar Shingote from Pune’s Junnar area, is being questioned by investigators over his suspected role in the growing network behind the scam. Officials believe he was connected to individuals who promised students admission assistance after gaining access to leaked exam material before the test was conducted.

The case first came to light after reports of the NEET-UG question paper being circulated on social media and messaging apps ahead of the examination. As complaints from students and parents increased, multiple state police teams and later the CBI began investigating the matter. Early findings suggest that the leak may have spread through a network involving agents, coaching contacts, and middlemen operating across different states.

Investigators are now examining phone records, financial transactions, and online chats to trace how the papers were shared and who benefited from the racket. Sources claim that some candidates were asked to pay huge amounts of money in exchange for access to leaked questions and admission support.
