Maha TET 2026 Postponed After Paper Leak In Thane: Thousands Of Aspirants Left In Limbo

Mumbai: Just a day before thousands of candidates were set to appear for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET), the state government postponed the examination after the question paper was allegedly leaked in Thane, triggering a major investigation.

The suspected leak surfaced nearly 24 hours before the exam, prompting swift action from the police. Acting on a tip off, officials recovered what is believed to be the leaked question paper during a raid in thane. Several people have been detained, and investigators are now probing whether an organized racket was behind the breach.

With the integrity of the examination compromised, authorities decided to postpone the statewide test. A fresh examination date is expected to be announced after the investigation progresses and new arrangements are put in place.

The sudden decision has come as a huge disappointment for thousands of teaching aspirants who had spent months preparing for the eligibility test. Many candidates had already travelled to their examination center and incurred expenses on transport and accommodation.

Police are now tracing the source of the leak, examining digital evidence , and questioning suspects to determine how confidential examination material was accessed before the test. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of a larger network involved in examination fraud.

The Maharashtra State Examination Council is expected to issue detailed guidelines regarding the revised examination schedule, fresh admit cards, and other instructions in the coming days. Until then, candidates have been advised to rely only on official notifications and avoid rumours circulating on social media.

The latest incident has once again raised serious concerns over the security of competitive examinations, with many calling for stricter safeguards to prevent future paper leaks and protect the interests of genuine candidates.
