Mossad Planned Attack on Asim Munir in Switzerland, Claims Analyst; Pakistan Calls It ‘Rubbish’

Brazilian journalist and geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar has claimed that Pakistani military intelligence intercepted an alleged Israeli plot to assassinate Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during high-level talks in Switzerland an allegation Pakistani officials have firmly rejected as baseless.
Escobar made the claim during a conversation with Lebanese-Australian entrepreneur and political commentator Mario Nawfal on Nawfal’s X show. According to Escobar, the alleged plot involved Israel’s Mossad and was aimed at Munir and possibly other members of the Pakistani delegation present for the talks. He said Pakistani intelligence acted on “ultra-credible information” about the alleged plan and that Pakistan subsequently sent a warning to Israel through diplomatic channels.
“No, it was the opposite, Mario. Basically, the short story is Pakistani military intel intercepted ultra-credible information that the Mossad was preparing, under orders by Netanyahu, an assassination attempt against Asim Munir and maybe the rest of the Pakistani delegation going to Switzerland. So the Pakistanis sent a direct message via their usual intermediaries I would bet it would be Oman in this case directly to Israelis, saying that ‘if you touch our delegation, we’re going to wipe you off the map,’ period. I am quoting, this is what our source informed,” Escobar said.

A Pakistani security official dismissed the claim outright in response. “Absolutely rubbish and complete nonsense. Nothing of this sort occurred,” the official said, according to Pakistani journalist Kamran Khan, adding that security arrangements for the delegation remained unaffected throughout the visit. Neither the Israeli government nor Mossad has commented on the allegation; Israel maintains a standing policy of neither confirming nor denying matters related to its intelligence operations.
No Swiss, American or Pakistani security authority issued any public alert or raised concerns about a threat during the period in question. Escobar’s remarks came amid heightened tensions between Israel and Pakistan, and he separately suggested the broader situation differed from how it was being publicly portrayed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had travelled to the BĂĽrgenstock resort in Switzerland last week to take part in quadrilateral talks between the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar, held under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing US-Iran de-escalation efforts.
