Glasgow Restaurant Agrees To Correct Incomplete India Map After Lovlina Borgohain, BFI Flag Issue

An Indian restaurant in Glasgow, Scotland, that came under criticism for displaying an incomplete map of India has agreed to fix the error. The issue was first raised by Olympic boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who noticed that the map printed on napkins and displayed outside Mister Singh’s India Home of Curry left out India’s North East entirely. Lovlina, who is from Assam, said she felt hurt by the omission and brought it up during a celebratory dinner held for the Indian boxing contingent following their 10-medal haul at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh, who was present at the same dinner, also raised the matter directly with restaurant staff. Beyond the missing North East, Singh pointed out that the map’s depiction of Jammu and Kashmir was inaccurate as well, and asked the restaurant to withdraw and correct it so it properly reflected India’s complete territory.
Restaurant To Fix The Map
Speaking to news agency PTI after the outing, Singh said there had been no confrontation and that the matter was resolved amicably. He described it as an aberration that he and Lovlina had pointed out, adding that the restaurant accepted the mistake and gave assurances it would be corrected.
Lovlina, for her part, wasn’t entirely satisfied and posted a video on social media addressing the issue directly. In it, she said she didn’t want the comment taken the wrong way, but that she’d felt a little hurt seeing the North East missing from the map of India, including the one displayed outside the restaurant. As someone from the region, she said, that omission genuinely stings, and she asked that it be kept in mind going forward.
India’s Boxers Shine At CWG 2026
The dinner came on the back of a standout campaign for the Indian boxing contingent at the Commonwealth Games 2026, where the team won seven gold medals and three silver. On the women’s side, Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Arundhati Choudhary and Priya Ghanghas all struck gold, while Ankush Panghal and Sachin Siwach won gold in the men’s categories. Lovlina herself took silver, alongside Jadumani Singh in the men’s 55kg category and Narender Berwal in the men’s 90+kg category.
