According to the Hindu Panchang, the Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi begins at approximately 2:25 AM on September 4 and ends at 12:13 AM on September 5. Puja Vidhi (Simple Home Ritual)
Clean and decorate the puja area with flowers and lights. Place Laddu Gopal (baby Krishna idol) in a decorated swing (jhula). Perform abhishek with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar) followed by clean water or Gangajal. Dress the idol in new clothes, ornaments, peacock feather and flute. Offer Tulsi leaves, makhan-mishri, fruits, sweets and flowers. Light diya and incense, chant mantras such as “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” or the Hare Krishna mahamantra, and perform aarti at midnight. Many devotees observe a fast (vrat) until after the Nishita Puja or the next morning’s Parana.
May Lord Krishna’s blessings fill your home with joy, devotion and prosperity this Janmashtami.
