Mother, 2 Kids Jump Off Fort In Maharashtra, Case Registered Against In-laws

A complaint of abetment of suicide and dowry harassment was filed against her husband and three others after a mother and her two children perished after jumping from the well-known Naldurg fort in Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district, according to police on Friday.

They claimed that the woman’s other daughter, who suffered severe injuries in the Thursday incident, is presently receiving care at a hospital.

Ashwini Manohar Pol (30), who lived with her parents in Vhantal village, went to the ancient site with her twin daughters Veera and Kranti, who were two and a half years old, and her five-year-old son Ajinkya, according to the police.

According to an official, the woman and her three kids fell from the fort’s topmost point, the Upli bastion.

In this regard, an accidental death report was first filed. But after the woman’s father filed a complaint, a case was filed at the Naldurg police station against her husband, his father, and the victim’s two female relatives, he added.

According to him, the accused were identified as her husband Manohar Pol, his father Ankush Pol, and two female relatives who all lived in Ambulga in the Latur district.

He stated that no one has been arrested in this matter thus far.

Tanaji Mohite, the deceased woman’s father, claimed in his complaint that the accused mistreated her because she gave birth to twin girls and because of her dowry. According to the official, they made her bring cash, gold jewelry, and money to buy an autorickshaw.

According to him, a case was filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 80 (dowry death), 108 (abetment of suicide), 85 (subjecting a woman to cruelty), and 3 (5) (common intention).
