Hyderabad: A 26 year old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Hyderabad’s Langar Houz area during the early hours of Friday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Preliminary findings suggest she died by suicide while on a video call with a friend, though investigators are examing all possible angles before drawing any conclusions.
The deceased identified as Renuka, was a resident of Alwal. According to police, she was married, had a child, and worked at a restaurant and pub in the cith. Officials said she checked into a hotel along with a 34 year old man on Wednesday. The man is reported to have left the hotel late on Thursday night, while Renuka remained in the room.
Police said Renuka ordered dinner shortly before midnight and later initiated a video call with a friend. Durinng the call, she is believed to have died. Hotel staff subsequently informed the police, who reached the scene, conducted a preliminary inspection, and shifted the body for a post-mortem examination.
Investigators have registered a case and are collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from the hotel, mobile phone records, and witness statements. The man who accompanied Renuka to the hotel is also being questioned as part of the investigation. Police have stated that the exact cause and circumstances of the death will be determined only after forensic analysis and the post-mortem report.
The investigation has also taken another dimension after members of the woman’s family reportedly expressed doubts over the preliminary suicide theory and alleged that she may have been murdered. Police have said they are examining both the suicide and homicide angles and that no final conclusion has been reached.
Officials have urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation to proceed. Further details are expected after forensic findings and witness examinations are completed.
