Experts emphasise gentle recovery routines for the skin, eyes, lips, lashes, and cuticles to restore health without aggravating issues.
For skin, which bears the brunt of exposure to colours and sunlight, aggressive scrubbing should be avoided at all costs. Harsh rubbing can create micro-tears, push pigments deeper, and heighten irritation. Dermatologist recommends starting with a lukewarm shower to loosen residues, followed by a pH-balanced, soap-free cleanser for sensitive skin. Adding a touch of coconut oil or petroleum jelly to the cleanser aids in emulsifying and lifting colours gently. Immediately after patting the skin dry, apply a fragrance-free, rich moisturiser containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid, shea butter, or colloidal oatmeal to rebuild the barrier and combat dryness. If redness, itching, or rashes persist, pure aloe vera gel or a short-term 1% hydrocortisone cream may offer relief. Steer clear of harsh toners, exfoliants, or potent actives for at least 48-72 hours to support recovery, and seek dermatological help for severe allergic signs like swelling or blistering.
Sensitive zones such as lips, lashes, and cuticles which lack robust oil glands and feature thinner skin absorb pigments readily and suffer from overzealous cleaning. Dr highlights their vulnerability to micro-damage, peeling, breakage, and hangnails from scrubbing. For lips, soften residues with a nourishing oil or balm before wiping gently, then repair with products featuring ceramides, shea butter, or panthenol to restore hydration and avoid darkening. Lashes and eyelids benefit from mild, ophthalmologist-approved cleansers or micellar water applied without rubbing, paired with an oil-based lash serum to strengthen and prevent fallout. Cuticles require gentle cleansing with lukewarm water and non-soap formulas, followed by vitamin E, jojoba, or almond oil to maintain flexibility and ward off painful splits.

Eyes face the highest risk, as colours can enter easily, triggering itching, watering, redness, or more serious complications.
