New Delhi : A 22-year-old man allegedly bled to death outside a police Pink Booth in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after waiting nearly 40 minutes for help, with his family accusing the police of failing to provide timely medical assistance. Rajkumar got into an argument with an auto-rickshaw driver over the fare. As the dispute escalated, he ran to a nearby police Pink Booth seeking help.
The family alleged that the booth was closed, prompting Rajkumar to repeatedly knock on its glass door to get the attention of police personnel inside. During the process, the glass shattered, severely cutting his hands and causing heavy bleeding. They claimed Rajkumar remained outside the booth for nearly 40 minutes without receiving immediate medical aid. He was later taken to a hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.
His family has accused the police of negligence and demanded a thorough inquiry, strict action against those responsible and accountability for the alleged delay in providing medical assistance. In a statement, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kavinagar) Upasana Pandey said both Rajkumar and the auto-rickshaw driver were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when an argument broke out over a financial dispute before they reached the Pink Booth.
Acting ACP (Kavi Nagar) Upasana Pandey said the incident took place around 3.30 pm on July 12 within the jurisdiction of the Madhuban Bapudham police station. According to her, an auto-rickshaw driver and his passenger were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they got into an argument over a payment dispute. The two then reached a nearby Pink Booth, where the passenger allegedly struck the booth’s glass gate with his hand in an intoxicated state, causing the glass to shatter and severely injure him.
Pandey said the injured man was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died. She added that the police are collecting all the facts related to the incident and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
