Chandauli: A gut-wrenching incident from parts of Uttar Pradesh, Chandauli district, was reported when the Samajwadi Party’s women’s wing leader, Gargi Patel, was brutally assaulted after the attackers aggressively barged into her home and ruthlessly began the act of violence on her.
It was the day of 28 May when the leader was having a verbal conversation with the former head of the Kashi Vidyapeeth block, Pyarelal Yadav, at her residence. It was purported that they were going through business disagreements. During their meeting, Yadav’s family, including his wife, son, and daughter, broke into her house, and the group allegedly started a verbal dispute, which soon escalated into a heavy assault on Gargi Patel with kicks, punches, the merciless pulling of her hair, and even a table thrown at her for nearly five minutes. The video recorded the whole incident, as CCTV surveillance was installed in Patel’s residence. A team of police was dispatched after the immediate communication of the crime, and the officials escorted the injured woman to the district hospital.

According to some witnesses, it is rumored that Gargi and Yadav were involved in a liaison, while when Gargi was asked for the potential reasons for this barbaric attack, she claimed that a financial dispute in their business partnership may have caused this. Patel sustained multiple injuries and bore a blow from an iron rod too; her children were also assaulted in an attempt to protect her. It was an elderly person who intervened and tried to mediate, but the old man was also threatened to meet the same fate.
In the light of this callous act, people are raising concerns regarding their own safety too. When politicians aren’t spared in their own homes, then what about the commoners? With questions like this, the investigation is currently being done by the police as they are reviewing the incident’s footage and are trying to deduce the motive of the assault.
