A prominent dental association has imposed a five-year suspension on a dentist following allegations that she made mocking comments about the death of Ketan Agarwal, a young man whose killing has shocked many across the country.
The All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA) announced the immediate suspension of Dr. Muskan Soni, who held the position of treasurer for its Madhya Pradesh unit. According to the association, her actions violated its constitution, code of conduct, and ethical standards. Dr. Soni has been barred from all positions, responsibilities, committees, and activities within the organization for the full five-year period. During this time, she cannot represent the group, participate in its events, or seek any official role. The suspension may only be altered or lifted by the competent authority.
The decision stems from an Instagram Story in which Dr. Soni is accused of posting remarks deemed highly inappropriate, offensive, and disrespectful toward the late Ketan Agarwal. The association described the content as crossing the boundaries of professional conduct expected from its members.
Ketan Agarwal’s death occurred on June 18 at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra. Police allege that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her accomplice, Chetan Chaudhary, were responsible. Both individuals are currently in custody. Investigators believe the pair had planned the murder in advance. On the day of the incident, Ketan had picked up Siya from a location on the Pune-Mumbai highway before proceeding to the fort. Siya later contacted Ketan’s mother, claiming he had accidentally fallen into a gorge.

Initial reports treated the death as an accident, but Ketan’s family grew suspicious and filed a complaint. Further investigation uncovered evidence of prior plotting, including an alleged attempt by Siya to harm him at the same location just days earlier. Police are also examining the couple’s travel history, including a trip to Udaipur in Rajasthan. Ketan, the son of a wealthy Maharashtra businessman, had become engaged to Siya in February. Their public social media presence portrayed a happy relationship, but authorities suspect deeper motives behind the events leading to his death.
This case has drawn attention to issues of professional ethics within medical and dental communities, particularly regarding public commentary on sensitive matters involving ongoing criminal investigations. The suspension underscores the expectations of decorum and respect upheld by professional bodies.
